First draft of FY27 Middlebury town budget reflects 13.5% increase

Selectboard members at their Tuesday meeting were gobsmacked to learn that the draft budget would require a substantial increase in the municipal property tax rate.

In Addison, owners of both residential and non-residential real estate saw a major drop in their property tax bills when they opened them in July.

Panton property owners saw at least modestly lower tax bills.

Waltham’s recent reappraisal means property tax payments won’t be lower for everyone.

Middlbury homeowners and non-residential ratepayers can expect property taxes to drop this fiscal year.
