Eagle football rolls over Windsor

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes football team’s explosive offense and hard-hitting defense carried them to a 56-0 win over Windsor High School on Saturday.

Host No. 2 Montpelier on Monday edged the No. 3 Mount Abraham-Vergennes boys’ lacrosse team, 8-7, in a Division III semifinal.

The No. 6 seed Mount Abraham-Vergennes girls’ lacrosse team came up just short of an upset of No. 3 U-32 on June 5, losing in overtime to the Raiders, 10-9.

The No. 6 seed Mount Abraham-Vergennes girls’ lacrosse team had little trouble on Tuesday with No. 11 Milton in a first-round Division II playoff game, taking care of business in a 16-5 victory over the 3-12 Yellowjackets.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes Cooperative boys’ lacrosse team won its only game played between May 20 and 27, though the Eagles also picked up a May 20 forfeit victory over the struggling Otter Valley program.

Visiting Rice, Division I’s 6th-place team, defeated the Mount Abraham-Vergennes Cooperative girls’ lacrosse team on Saturday, 16-6.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative girls’ lacrosse team opened their season on Tuesday with a new coach and a competitive effort in a 14-10 setback against Hartford, Division II’s top tournament seed in 2024.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative football team ran over visiting Division II rival Milton on this past Saturday afternoon, 55-8, to improve to 5-2. 

Saturday’s high school football game saw momentum shifts between Otter Valley and the cooperative Mount Abraham-Vergennes team. It turned the host Eagles’ way in the second half, when MAV outscored the Otters, 18-0, to claim a 36-27 victory.
