Lincoln gets first look at school capital improvement plan

The Lincoln School Board recently got a closer look at what capital projects the district could tackle at Lincoln Community School in the coming years, as well as what those projects could cost.

The district is anticipates a slight increase in the homestead tax rate for FY27.

The Lincoln School District Board at its Jan. 14 meeting unanimously approved a fiscal year 2026 budget to send to voters in March that calls for $5,179,244.76 in total spending, an increase of 5.1% over the current year.

Lincoln School District officials have begun their search for a new administrator to lead the Lincoln Community School, as longtime principal Tory Riley will step down from the position at the end of this school year. 

Lincoln School Board members last week unanimously agreed to present voters with a spending plan for fiscal year 2025 that calls for $4,927,940 in total spending, an increase of $282,810, or 6.09%, over the current year. 

When Amy Cole takes the reins of the Lincoln School District in January, it will be as much a homecoming as a fresh start for the new superintendent. 

Lincoln School District officials are optimistic that the changes to the state’s education funding formula outlined in Act 127 won’t have a major impact on the district’s budget for Fiscal Year 2025.

A search committee made up of community members and district officials will help facilitate that search over the next month and identify a candidate to begin leading the one-town district at the start of next year.
