Patton sets her final goals at the college

As Middlebury College President Laurie Patton prepares to step down from her post at the end of this year, there are a few things she’s hoping to tackle over the next several months — from advancing fundraising efforts to ensuring the continuity of various initiatives she’s overseen during her nine years leading the institution. 

Laurie Patton on Thursday announced she will leave Middlebury this coming January to become president of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.

Laurie Patton writes: I have no words to describe my gratitude for and joy about Middlebury, and who we have become together in the world.

Taking photographs helps Laurie Patton stay connected with the natural beauty of Vermont — otherwise she’ll just be “stressing with scenery,” she added with a laugh.
