Family documentary chronicles mom’s life in Middlebury and Ripton

“Traces of Time,” a film by Simeon Hutner and winner of MNFF’s Shouldice Family Prize for Best Vermont Film, will screen on Aug. 21.

This year’s Middlebury New Filmmakers Festivals features 107 films. Here are a few from Vermont filmmaker Jay Craven’s must-see list.

After three separate cancer diagnoses, and undergoing nauseating and difficult treatment for each one, Connecticut-based activist Lynda Bluestein set her sights on medical aid in dying.

Middlebury College Hirschfield Screening Series will host an exclusive advance screening of the film “Emilia Pérez” on Nov. 7, a week prior to the film’s U.S. availability on Netflix.

This Revolutionary War-era action drama is set in the early upstart Republic of Vermont with some notable historic characters fleshed out in an exciting story.

The film, which tells the stories of four women leaders whose lives are overturned by cyberviolence, will screen at the Marquis Theater with a panel discussion afterward.

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s chamber ensemble, conducted by Matt LaRocca, returns Aug. 25, with its pioneering collaboration with the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival.

It’s been 30 years since Jay Craven was on the road touring his film “Where the Rivers Flow North.” Now he’s looking forward to a special screening this Saturday in Ferrisburgh.

George Woodard’s new film, “The Farm Boy,” will screen at Holley Hall in Bristol on May 5, and in Brandon and Randolph this coming weekend.
