Skies are blue at Diamond Island race

On Saturday morning, 25 boats were on the starting line for the 13th edition of the Diamond Island Regatta. DIYC’s signature sailboat race took boats on a 10-mile course on Lake Champlain.

The Ferrisburgh firefighters will hold their annual Chicken Barbeque on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Ferrisburgh Fire Department on Route 7.

For more than 25 years, the North American Steamboat Association (NASBA) has been gathering in Otter Creek for their annual steamboat meet-up in Vergennes, with River’s Edge in Ferrisburgh as their elected homebase.

Vermont State Police and a variety of local emergency responders mobilized earlier this week for separate reports of swimmers in distress in Bristol and Ferrisburgh, with both cases sadly resulting in deaths.

Principal Rae Donovan said she loved her time at Ferrisburgh Central School, but did not give a reason for her departure. The next principal is a familiar face.

At some point in the not-too-distant future, the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department could change from being an independent nonprofit entity to a department operating under the town of Ferrisburgh’s municipal umbrella.

The Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department had to wait a long time for a short fire truck, and Chief Bill Wager said its arrival earlier this month was much better late than never.
