Letter to the editor: End of an era for Mount Abe hoops

After 31 years of running the girls’ basketball program at Mount Abraham, Connie LaRose was fired.

It is possible the Mount Abraham Unified School District board at a Sept. 27 executive session also attended by Mount Abraham Union High School and district administrators violated Vermont’s Open Meeting Law.

The school board has erred egregiously by refusing to publicly explain its reasoning, and by snubbing Coach LaRose’s request to have a public airing of the board’s decision, which is within her rights to ask.

The Mount Abraham Unified School District Board lined up behind school administrators on Tuesday evening when pressed about the June dismissal of high school basketball coach Connie LaRose.
