Shoreham to send K-5 students to Bridport next fall

The ACSD board on Monday voted 8-1 in favor of a plan to blend Shoreham’s kindergarten through 5th-grade students into Bridport Central School beginning next fall, and convert Shoreham Elementary School into a district Pre-K hub.

The ACSD board on Monday conducted its first review of a plan to educate both the Shoreham and Bridport K-5 student populations at Bridport Central School beginning next fall.

Bridport and Shoreham residents are being asked to weigh in on a potential plan to educate K-5 children in a single elementary school.

The Addison Central School District is putting together a working group to further develop a plan to combine the Bridport and Shoreham K-5 student populations to assure them single-grade classroom instruction, beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Bridport’s and Shoreham’s elementary schools will both remain open for the next school year serving their own local children with multi-age classrooms.

Heather Raabe, principal of Cornwall’s Bingham Memorial Elementary School, has confirmed she’ll be stepping down at the end of this academic year.

Matthew Brankman, principal of Bridport Central and Shoreham Elementary schools, will step down at the end of this academic year.
