High school boys’ hoops teams prep for playoffs

All three local high school boys’ basketball teams are slated to begin their playoff bids this Wednesday, March 4.

The MUHS boys’ basketball team fared the best of any local squad this past week.

The Tigers ended the first quarter 20 points ahead of the Eagles, who previously defeated MUHS in January.

The boys’ hoops teams from Middlebury and Vergennes had much to celebrate this week. But Mt. Abe fell twice.

The Commodores showed playoff nemesis Winooski what’s to come post-season.

VUHS and Mt. Abe gathered wins this week.

In recent high school boys’ basketball action, the Commodores and Tigers each added three wins to their records, and Mt. Abe added two, only falling to Vergennes. 

Though it was a quiet week for boys’ basketball, two teams capitalized on their games and added wins to their records.

The Eagles take charge of Friday’s game in the second and third periods, outscoring the Tigers, 30-9.

There were wins all around for local boys’ basketball teams this past week.

The MUHS boys’ basketball team broke through on the win column this week in a home game vs. Otter Valley.

The Mount Abraham Union High School boys’ basketball team beat Otter Valley, 67-37, this past Saturday.

Vergennes won on the road, while Middlebury lost at home in recent local high school boys’ basketball action.

Addison County boys’ basketball teams struggled late last week, as Vergennes dropped two home games and Middlebury and Mount Abraham each suffered road losses in their only outings.

Vergennes was the only winner as the local high school boys’ basketball season got underway. Mount Abraham opened with a pair of setbacks, and Middlebury lost in overtime on the road.
