Wins hard to come by for local boys’ basketball teams

The MUHS boys’ basketball team broke through on the win column this week in a home game vs. Otter Valley.

In local high school girls’ basketball, Middlebury and Vergennes were both double winners, but Mount Abe fell to one of its local rivals.

The Mount Abraham Union High School boys’ basketball team beat Otter Valley, 67-37, this past Saturday.

In limited recent local high school girls’ basketball play, Vergennes won big on the road, while Mount Abraham came up short for a second time against Fair Haven, but with a better effort.

Visiting Fair Haven buried the young Mount Abraham girls’ basketball team with an early barrage of three-pointers on Monday.

Vergennes was the only winner as the local high school boys’ basketball season got underway. Mount Abraham opened with a pair of setbacks, and Middlebury lost in overtime on the road. 

The Middlebury College women’s basketball team wrapped up first-semester play on Saturday by breezing past the visiting Colby-Sawyer Chargers, 73-37
