Middlebury picks Hooper, Seeley and Thomas

Esther Thomas, Andy Hooper and Heather Seeley on Tuesday prevailed in a four-person race for three available three-year terms on the Middlebury selectboard.

The town of Middlebury would be well served if Andy Hooper is elected to your selectboard.

If you have ever attended a meeting of the Middlebury selectboard, you soon realize that it is a lot of work — and not remotely glamorous.

As my tenure on the Middlebury selectboard comes to the end of its more than 12-year run, I want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve as one of your board members.

A year ago I said I wished I could vote for both Esther Thomas, who I helped recruit, and Andy Hooper, my good neighbor, for Middlebury selectboard for the one-year seat for which they were competing.

Andy Hooper looks at the current state of national politics and shakes his head. But he still has confidence in local government — where people tend to work together for the common good of constituents — and he wants to be a part of it.
