Caitlin Steele is named principal at MUHS

Steele has been with the ACSD since 2016, when she was hired as director of teaching & learning.

Megan Cheresnick has taught at all levels (except grade 4) during her almost eight-year career at Bridport Central School.

Addison County residents showed strong support for education on Tuesday, when all local school budgets passed, four out of five by large margins. 

That comes thanks to a recent, unanimous vote by the Addison Central School District Board to cut through language in the current teachers’ contract that had prompted ACSD officials to initially deny her request.

For those who might despair that speaking out doesn’t change anything and the best bet is to stay silent and let others fight their battles, the story of Michelle Steele is heartening.

Addison Central School District voters on Tuesday filled five seats on the ACSD’s 13-member governing board, with four of those spots decided in hotly contested elections.

Next Tuesday, March 7, is Town Meeting Day. Many towns have their official meetings on Monday evening March 6, with Australian balloting the next day. 

I am writing to recommend Hildie Stone for the Bridport seat on the Addison Central School District Board.

As a current Board member myself, I know these two will contribute to building healthy, vibrant, and high-achieving schools across our district that our communities can trust and rely on.

As a father of two young children attending school in our district, Chris is fully invested in the future of our schools, the success of our students, and the strength of our towns.

All three of our school districts in Addison County, and the Hannaford Career Center, have many substantial buildings that need heat (and air conditioning) and are currently major consumers of fossil fuels.

The ACSD school board ballot will be very full this year. I am proud to support Hilda Stone and Ron Makleff.
