51 Main’s latest effort sees success

Downtown Middlebury’s 51 Main St. storefront has in recent years been a tough nut to crack. It offers one of the most visible and spacious venues, yet tenants have had a tough time staying there.

The long-vacant, 4,300-square-foot storefront at 51 Main St. in downtown Middlebury will come back to life next spring with a mixture of food, retail, entertainment, bar and event spaces.

Nedde Real Estate officials are working to hammer out a lease with a tenant who’s proposing a food-service business in what has for a long time been one of downtown Middlebury’s most conspicuous storefront vacancies: 51 Main St.
