The Middlebury Union High School boys’ Nordic team on Tuesday won a season-opening sprint race on home snow at Rikert Outdoor Center, while the girls’ team took fifth. 

Visiting Fair Haven buried the young Mount Abraham girls’ basketball team with an early barrage of three-pointers on Monday.

As usual, there was plenty of enthusiasm at the Bristol school this month to accompany the short run-up to the season, with practices starting on Dec. 1 and action starting for all the teams within two weeks.

Most Middlebury Union High School sports teams enjoyed successful seasons this past winter, and there are reasons to hope for more of the same in the 2025-2026 campaign.

MUHS’s wrestling team fared well this past weekend at the Tom Sawyer Invitational in Souhegan, N.H., as all six Tiger wrestlers who competed compiled winning records, two won their weight classes, and the Tigers overall finished sixth out of 16 teams.
