Maritime Museum opens indoor exhibits

FERRISBURGH — Lake Champlain Maritime Museum re-opened select indoor exhibit buildings on Friday, July 2.

Included among the indoor exhibits re-opening is the museum’s signature exhibit “Key to Liberty: The American Revolution on Lake Champlain,” which explores the important local connections and regional history from the Revolutionary War.

The museum’s free admission extends to these indoor experiences, which will be open along with the rest of the museum’s outdoor exhibits every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After more than a year of closed doors, visitors are now able to step inside and explore “Key to Liberty” along with the following other indoor exhibits:

•  “Nebizun: Water is Life,” in the museum’s historic schoolhouse building, is an exhibit by the Vermont Abenaki Artists Association that brings together works by Abenaki artists and artisans of the Champlain Valley to illustrate the Abenaki relationship to water and its importance to the health of the world.

•  Hazelett Small Watercraft Center, a two-story exhibit space, presents the history of small human-powered watercraft on Lake Champlain, including the towering Storm King ice yacht.

Visitors can plan their free trip to the museum and check out which exhibits are open at lcmm.org/Visit.
