Walk-a-thon in Bristol to benefit Haiti

BRISTOL — An effort to raise funds for L’Orphelinat Notre-Dame du Perpetuel Secours, an orphanage in Haiti, will take place Saturday, June 26, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Bristol. The 4th Annual “Raise A Child in Haiti” Walk-A-Thon will commence on the Bristol Baptist Church Lawn, off Park Street.

Organizers hope to raise $10,000 this year. The orphanage is in the middle of a project to build a kitchen and more bathrooms, among other projects. Registration is 9:30-10 a.m., and the walk from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants can walk with a group leader or on their own on a choice of two paths, one on Bristol village sidewalks and one on the Bristol Trail Network.

Anyone who raises $1,000 will be entered to win a B&B-style vacation of five days and four nights at the home of Don and Karen Wheeler in Naples, Fla. Flexible dates will fit the winner’s schedule.
