Local man cited for domestic violence

WEYBRIDGE — Vermont State Police cited Ryan Phelps, 32 of Shoreham for domestic violence on Wednesday, July 25, after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a home on Quaker Village Road in Weybridge.
Police said they were called to the home at around 5 a.m. to investigate a report of disorderly conduct. Upon their arrival, VSP were told by witnesses that Phelps had allegedly forced his way into the residence and attempted to force the victim into his vehicle. After being unsuccessful in forcing the victim into the vehicle, Ryan allegedly assaulted her, according to police.
Phelps fled the scene prior to police arriving at the scene, but later returned to the residence to confront the victim, according to police. State police went back to the residence and took Phelps into custody.
Police cited Phelps for domestic violence, unlawful trespass, driving with a suspended license and violation of his conditions of release.
Police said Phelps was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center on $2,500 bail.
