Storm chasers to share photos from Tornado Alley
MIDDLEBURY — The annual meeting of the Green Mountain Club Bread Loaf Section will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Church in Middlebury. At the meeting, Chris Bouchard will present a program and slideshow titled “Tornado Alley.” Bouchard is a meteorologist with over seven years’ experience forecasting Vermont’s temperamental weather.
Bouchard’s forecasts have appeared in many places around the region, most prominently under the “Eye on the Sky” banner on Vermont Public Radio. He graduated from Lyndon State College in 2004. While interested in all facets of weather, his area of expertise lies with thunderstorms and tornadoes. He is an accomplished lightning photographer and a storm chaser. Bouchard has traversed Tornado Alley for months on end in pursuit of severe weather — both for fun and to conduct scientific research.
The annual meeting begins with social time at 5 p.m. and a potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a short business meeting and the slide program. Members and guests are welcome at all GMC events. Those interested in attending should call Ruth Penfield at 802-388-5407 to let her know that they are coming and what dish they’ll bring. Information about this and other Bread Loaf Section events is available at www.gmcbreadloaf.org.
