Church holds lobster fest

NORTH FERRISBURGH — The North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church held its sixteenth annual Lobster Fest on Saturday, July 30. The purpose of this meal is to offer intergenerational fun, welcome the community to the site and enjoy a great meal together. We have many young people in grade school through high school who really enjoy serving our guests. “The young people were so helpful and respectful. The parents should be commended,” is a common comment from our guests. “I love serving the people and making new friends,” is what our youngest servers tell us and we all agree. We had people serving at the meal aged seven through eighty-seven!
The weather was fabulous, the boilers produced perfect boiled lobsters, our parishioners provided beautiful homemade pies and our guests loved it. “It’s a fabulous meal, thank you,” said many of our guests. We raised over $4,000, which will help us reach out to our local community and beyond.
We especially thank Laurie Curler, Jill Wilkens and Linda Lucia, our amazing co-chairs, and everyone who came and helped with the meal. We usually offer this meal the last Saturday of July so mark your calendars for 2017! You may choose from a whole lobster or half a chicken as your main entrée.
