U.S.-China relations to be discussed

MIDDLEBURY — The public is invited to Middlebury College on Friday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m., for the first lecture in a speaker series celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of U.S.-China relations.
Changyong Rhee, the director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund, will talk about Asia’s response to near-term global headwinds. These include escalating trade tension, monetary policy, normalization of advanced economies as well as medium-term challenges arising from declining productivity growth and aging population. This timely event will come off the heels of the deadline of the Sino-American Trade Negotiations as well as the Second Trump-Kim Summit.
The lecture will be at the Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs at 148 Hillcrest Road in Middlebury. More information is available here.
