County Little Leaguers fall to Essex

BENNINGTON — A successful season came to an end for the Addison County 8-to-10-year-old all star baseball team on Friday evening when they lost to the Essex Town all stars, 4-3, in the Little League state tournament.
The game, played in Bennington, saw AC fall behind 4-0 early. First baseman Abe Ready hit a bases loaded shot in the 4th inning to drive in two runs and cut the deficit in half. Coach Randy Barnes said AC mounted a comeback in the bottom of the 6th, scoring a run, but came up short with the bases loaded to end the game. Michael McAuliffe described it as “one of the team’s best games of the season.”
Essex Town went on to fall to Bennington, 4-2, in the championship game on Sunday. AC ended up ranked third in the state.
