Letter to the editor: All must take action to save world from tyranny

Americans and People everywhere must change their thinking.
We must save ourselves and the planet as we know it from extinction, not by making small changes and not by electing officials who promise to work hard and make changes, because they inevitable become part of the problem.
We cannot count on our political system to save us from tyranny.
We must intervene and stop the growing concentration of wealth for the increasingly small number of Americans who actually control our elected officials.
This is not the only incredibly huge problem; if we are to be respected and included in the world population, we must end the global violence with our endless interventions and regime changes and constant war with an endless amount of death to millions of people, children included. As we continue in the military industrial complex and this insane greed to benefit few, all of us suffer. Our president has declared economic warfare on a global scale. It is insane to think that we can continue this forever. Look at our history, this is only a continuation of our history from day one.
Back home — there were 250 mass shootings last year in our country! I wonder how many there would be if there were no guns available to own.
Guns are such a convenient way to kill someone.
I know only a small number of people share my thoughts about gun ownership.
The same guns that are used for hunting animals (which are mostly for fun except for the few who need the food ) are used to kill people.
The whole concept of killing these animals for fun should be rethought. People say “I need a gun because I like to target shoot.” Well, I’m sure there are places that supply targets and guns in a restricted area. I’ve done this myself years ago.
No killing of animals would simply mean a lot fewer guns in the hands of people.
A person I have come to know just threatened me if I comment in this article about killing animals. He said he would write an article that would destroy my credibility. Well, this is only my opinion. I seriously doubt it will happen, at least, in my lifetime.
Then there is the 2nd Amendment “what if we need to defend ourselves from a tyrannical government?” What a joke! One can only imagine planes, rockets, bombs, guns, etc. stopping us in our tracks.
These problems can only be solved by us, all of us working together in order to take control away from the ruling class — “The Owners” as Ralph Nader used to say. We must be in the streets every day demanding change. We must interfere with their investments. If every one of us is involved we can inevitably make the changes that are necessary.
We must accept the fact that Americans are and have been responsible for this violence. It will take all of us to force the changes necessary.
There are good people, beautiful people everywhere in this world and we have our share in America. We have no choice. We must sacrifice to make these changes. We owe it to humanity. The time is now to help save the planet and all people from extinction. After accomplishing this perhaps we will be able to enjoy each other all over the planet.
Americans have been trained to accept our aggressive policy on a global scale, which makes peace at home and abroad very difficult.
A final note: a perfect example of how we should think, act and treat each other is what is done every day at Elderly Services, Project Independence in Middlebury. There is no room there for anything but love.
Good luck to us all. We will do this.
