By the way for Nov. 28

Starksboro’s Annual Holiday Project drive has begun. The local fire department auxiliary, in collaboration with Robinson Elementary School, is collecting financial donations for this very worthy and much-needed program. Donations, used to help families give their children a nice holiday, may be dropped off at the Starksboro Town Clerk’s Office or mailed to: Starksboro Holiday Project, P.O. Box 91, Starksboro, VT 05487.
Don’t miss Salisbury’s 14th annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Salisbury’s Veterans Memorial Park (across from Maple Meadow Farm). Festivities will include lighting of the beautiful Town Holiday Tree, a giant bonfire, hayrides, a visit from Santa, sing-along, hot cocoa and more. A holiday party — with food and refreshments, stories and a chance to spend more time with Santa — will follow at the Salisbury Town Library. All are welcome.
Reminder: The city of Vergennes has installed an electric vehicle charging station on the green, just in front of the information booth, that is free to use. Owners of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles can charge their cars there while visiting any (or several) of the shops, restaurants or services in Vergennes with electricity provided, courtesy of the city. This charging station was installed under a program sponsored by Green Mountain Power and coordinated by the Climate Economy Action Center of Addison County with the support of the Vergennes City Council and under the leadership of City Manager Matt Chabot. Additional free charging stations are planned at the Recreation Center in Middlebury, on the Middlebury College campus, and at the college’s Bread Loaf campus in Ripton.
