Letter to the editor: Republicans, not Dems, obstruct in Congress

I am writing in response to the Jan. 2 letter from Dan Monger. He is correct that few pieces of legislation have made it into law in 2019.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed 400 bills and sent them to the Senate, many of them with bipartisan support. Eighty percent of them are not even being considered there. Mitch McConnell, who prides himself on being called “The Grim Reaper,” kills bills having anything to do with the Democrats.
It is really the Republicans who are the do-nothing people in the legislative branch. Americans are incensed at the legislative gridlock, and many don’t realize who is causing it.
The House is required by the Constitution to investigate corruption, and impeach the president when the facts support it. The Republicans have been doing all they can to thwart justice. They want to suppress the testimony of witnesses because they know that such testimony will convict Donald Trump, and implicate other members of his administration in the commission of crimes.
Since when do the jurors (senators) collude with the defendant (Donald Trump) to rig the trials, as Mitch McConnell freely admits?
Americans are tired of Republicans lying and not upholding the Constitution and our hard-won democracy.
