ACSD sets facilities repair bill at $16M

MIDDLEBURY — The Addison Central School District board will host a Jan. 27 meeting at which it will review a consultant’s recommendations for a combined total of almost $16.2 million in repairs to the ACSD’s seven elementary schools.
The meeting, slated for 6-8 p.m. at Middlebury Union High School, will also see ACSD officials provide:
•  A progress update on a facilities master plan that will inventory all of the ACSD’s building repair needs and guide the board in prioritizing capital investments in those structures. The board has already announced the prospect of school mergers, in light of limited resources and declining enrollment throughout the district.
•  Information about current student enrollment projections and potential budget, tax and staffing implications.
The ACSD includes elementary schools in Bridport, Cornwall, Middlebury, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham and Weybridge, as well as Middlebury Union middle and high schools.
More information about the meeting and elementary school repair needs — contained in a report filed Dec. 21, 2019, by the TruexCullins company — can be found at acsdvt.org.
The Independent will publish a more detailed article about the TruexCullins report, and the ACSD facilities master planning process, prior to the Jan. 27 meeting at MUHS.
