Man shot in Starksboro residence

STARKSBORO — A 30-year-old man was injured after “a weapon was discharged inside the residence” at 38 Hillside Drive in Starksboro Friday morning in an incident Vermont State Police are calling a “weapons offense.”
At 6:51 a.m. troopers from the VSP New Haven barracks, along with detectives assigned to the Criminal Division, responded to the residence after receiving “a suspicious complaint that had originated in the town of Starksboro,” according to a press release issued by state police Friday afternoon.
The victim was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening “injury to his lower extremities,” the press release said.
State police are withholding the victim’s name as the case is still under investigation.
When contacted by the Independent, VSP spokesperson Adam Silverman refused to answer questions related to the incident.
Police say there is no danger to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Michael Notte at the New Haven barracks at 802-388-4919. Tips also may be submitted online at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
