William “Bill” P. Herrington, 67, of Vergennes

VERGENNES — After a long illness, William “Bill” P. Herrington, 67, died on June 22, 2020, at Respite House in Colchester. He was born March 4, 1953, in Dallas, Texas.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Rita Herrington; brother David and sister Diana Hemphill (Fla.); sister Paula Morse; and brothers Bruce (N.H.) and Stephen Herrington (Okla.). He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Herrington, of Vergennes, Vt.; son Walter Granger and wife Michelle Granger; daughter Alica Laplante; grandchildren Jason Laplante, Jr., Lauren Laplante, and Dylan Granger; and his great-granddaughter Daisy. He also leaves his sister Brenda Updyke and brother Kevin Herrington and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill was a carpenter working in New Hampshire and Vermont for many years. He was a Marine Corps Veteran, E3 LCP, and served during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Vergennes, where he was a lector for many years and member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill received the honor of Boy Scout Wood Badge and was Scout Master in New Hampshire. He loved cooking, gardening and his dogs. His greatest love was for his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
A service will be held on July 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes.  Facemasks are required. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please send a donation to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
Burial will be at a later date. ◊
