UPDATED: Mt. Abe ‘probable’ COVID case leads to quarantines

This story has been updated.
BRISTOL — A member of the Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School community has tested positive for COVID-19, and multiple people have been quarantined as close contacts.
School officials received word Tuesday night of a “probable” positive COVID-19 at the Bristol school and began contact tracing on Wednesday, said Mount Abe Principal Shannon Warden.
Updated data from the Vermont Department of Health confirms that there has been one positive case at the school this week.
Warden could not specify if the case was a student, teacher or other staff member. She was also unable to specify how many community members are currently quarantined as close contacts.
The COVID-19 case is the first at Mount Abe, and only the second in the Mount Abraham Unified School District, which operates schools in Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro.
In November one member of the Robinson Elementary School community in Starksboro tested positive for the disease.
