Work on water main to delay Court Street traffic in Middlebury on Tuesday; Mary Hogan School to dismiss early
MIDDLEBURY — On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the town of Middlebury’s Water Department will be repairing a water leak on a 12-inch main on the west side of Court Street at Mary Hogan Drive. This water leak is under or near the sidewalk at the crosswalk.
Work will begin mid-morning on Tuesday, with traffic control present. The southbound lane of Court Street will be shifted toward the center, using the left turn lane for through traffic. The northbound lane will be unaffected.
A crew from Green Mountain Power will be present to hold a nearby power pole during the repair.
Town officials said delays are possible, and asked drivers planning to go through Middlebury on Tuesday to plan their travel accordingly and use extra caution traveling through the area. Use an alternate route if possible.
A limited number of customers who will be without water have been notified by hand-delivered notice.
Mary Hogan Elementary School will be affected by this repair and plans are in place for school to be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Anyone with questions is asked to call the Middlebury Public Works Department at 388-4045.
