A LINCOLN RESIDENT refers to her town report while asking the selectboard a question at the town’s annual meeting on Monday evening in Burnham Hall. The gathering attracted over 100 voters, who met for more than five hours and engaged in lively discussion on several articles.

There were several articles on Lincoln’s town meeting warning that generated lively discussion at Monday’s annual gathering in Burnham Hall. But one in particular seemed to get at the heart of the town meeting tradition and why Vermonters continue to practice the centuries-old exercise in local democracy.
