First pet adopted in 2025: Tinsel

TINSEL WITH HIS new family.

Introducing the first pet adopted from Homeward Bound in 2025!

Tinsel’s adoption was finalized on Jan. 1, at 11:37 a.m. He weighs 6 pounds, 9 ounces and is two years old. He joins the Maranville family of West Rutland. He joins two human siblings and will be the only four-legged family member.

Tinsel came to Homeward Bound on Dec. 20, 2024. He was part of a large group of cats who had overrun a one-bedroom apartment in Burlington. Homeward Bound partnered with VT-CAN and other shelters in an effort to find homes for more than 50 cats, many of whom had been living in the attic walls of the apartment.

Tinsel is one of 10 cats who joined the Homeward Bound family from this group. While still very shy, he is doing well with socialization and the Maranville family could see his potential as a wonderful addition to their family. They are dedicated to giving him the time and space he needs to settle into their home.

Congratulations, Tinsel, and thank you Maranville family!
