Winter temperatures are rising in county
WHILE MATT TROMBLEY would like to use his pole and auger to do some ice fishing in Lake Dunmore, he is left wading in liquid water during this warm winter. His Vergennes-based guide service hasn’t been able to lead many ice fishing trips for several years, and other businesses dependent on cold weather have also suffered.

The unusually balmy winter has affected some local businesses whose offerings rely on cold weather and reflects a larger trend of warming winters driven by human-caused climate change.
