Vermont State Police Log: Ferrisburgh man’s stolen trailer found

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police and Middlebury police working together recovered a trailer stole  from an Ferrisburgh man’s yard.

Around 11:30 a.m. this past Sunday, troopers received a report that a trailer had been stolen from outside a Greenbush Road residence. Police believe the theft occurred during the evening of Saturday night.

At about 3:12 p.m. on Sunday, Middlebury Police officers spotted the trailer being pulled by a pickup truck. State police officers arrived on scene and determined the pickup driver, 33-year-old Benjamin Emmons of Middlebury, was knowingly in possession of the stolen trailer with no intention of returning it to its owner.

Police arrested Emmons, took him to the New Haven state police barracks and cited him for possession of stolen property. He was released and is scheduled to answer the charge in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on May 20.

The other incident that troopers stationed in New Haven reported between March 1 and March 11 occurred on March 1, at around 12:45 p.m. That’s when state police logged a call from Shawn Collette, 55, of Addison, who alleged he’d been assaulted by 59-year-old Addison resident Michael Bennett at a Route 22A home. Troopers said their investigation showed Collette was in fact the aggressor in the situation, and that he had engaged in violent, threatening, tumultuous behavior toward Bennett with intent to disturb his peace.

On March 5, a trooper cited Collette for aggravated disorderly conduct.
