Bristol Police Log: Police respond to complaints about dogs

BRISTOL — Bristol police have dealt with a couple of animal problems in recent weeks. 

On June 5, police responded to an animal complaint on Forest Ridge Drive. The officer issued the dog owner a warning for first violation of allowing dogs to bark and unlicensed dogs. 

That same day, police responded to a report of a dog walking in the road in the Route 17 area. The dog was gone when police arrived.

Between June 4 and 17 Bristol police completed 49 foot patrols and one car patrol, conducted 10 traffic stops and checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 12 times, at Bristol Elementary School 11 times and at local businesses 10 times. Police also processed 10 fingerprint requests. 

In other recent activity, Bristol police: 

• On June 4 received a complaint of motorcycles parking in a handicap parking spot on Main Street. The motorcycles were gone when police arrived.

• On June 4 following a traffic stop, cited Jake O’Brien, 34, of Burlington for failing to appear in court. 

• On June 5 assisted Mount Abe with a truancy concern. 

• On June 6 responded to a minor two-car crash on West Street that resulted in no injuries. 

• On June 6 responded to the West Street area for a report of a black vehicle driving without its lights on. Police located the vehicle and did not observe any traffic violations. 

• On June 7 received a report of a theft on Main Street. An investigation is ongoing. 

• On June 9 cited a juvenile on Airport Drive for possession of marijuana. 

• On June 9 assisted Monkton Central School with a truancy concern. 

• On June 10 assisted with traffic control on South Street while a disabled vehicle was removed from the road. 

• On June 10 investigated a vehicle that was reported to be operating recklessly on West Street. Police could not locate the vehicle.

• On June 13 issued a civil citation to a minor on Airport Drive who was in possession of tobacco.

• On June 13 helped an individual submit a bear complaint to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. 

• On June 15 spoke with students at Mount Abe about motor vehicle laws. 

• On June 15 helped the U.S. Marshals Service locate a person on Route 116 South. 

• On June 15 investigated a parking issue at Mount Abe.
