Vermont State Police Log: Police seek help in Bristol break-in

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are asking for help from the public in finding the person who broke into the Bristol Country Store late Saturday night.

Troopers at the New Haven barracks received a report at 13 minutes after midnight on April 9 that someone (police believe it was a man) broke into the Route 116 South store in Bristol and stole merchandise. The suspect — described as a man wearing a dark-colored jacket, camouflage pants and a dark backpack with black footwear — was last seen on foot running north on Route 116.

Police got reports that the unidentified man got into a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler.

State police circulated a security camera image of the person of interest in this theft and break-in, and they asked that anyone with information as to the person’s identity please call the New Haven State Police barracks at 802-388-4919. Trooper Brandon Slaney is putting out the request for information.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by Middlebury police.

Meanwhile, in the only other report from the local troop of Vermont State Police, troopers were conducting speed enforcement at the intersection of Route 7 and Dog Team Road in New Haven on Saturday evening, April 8. At a few minutes before 7 p.m. an officer saw a black sedan southbound on Route 7 in excess of the speed limit and confirmed via radar at 93 mph in a 50 mph zone. Police stopped the sedan, identified the driver as Theodore Cristea, 48, of Montreal, Quebec, and issued Cristea a citation for excessive speeding and a speeding ticket.
