The grand opening of the new Ilsley Library on Saturday, Aug. 29 will long live in Middlebury’s history. The weather was perfect, the Bristol Band had children dancing in the parking lot and this wonderful community turned out in force to thank the many groups and individuals who made it all possible.

The Friends of Ilsley Library would like to add some special appreciation of our own. We are very grateful to the folks at Middlebury United Methodist Church for making their lower level available to the Friends, enabling us to continue our monthly book sales and provide funding for programs at the Mini Ilsley during construction.

We also extend thanks to Nick Cantrick and his students at the Hannaford Career Center who worked with Mark Wilch and Friends’ board members to design and build our new book carts. The carts provided a smooth transfer of our books and equipment back into Ilsley and will make for easy set-up and take-down of our monthly sales.

Our September 5 book sale will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Ilsley community room. Stop by to see the new carts, thank our terrific volunteers and board members and, of course, buy books for your fall reading!
