Orwell man sentenced for child sex crimes

MONTPELIER — An Orwell man will spend years being tracked by the courts with possible jail time hanging over his head because he was caught with child sexual abuse materials.

The Attorney General’s Office last week announced that Adam Gagnon, 28, of Orwell was sentenced on July 20 in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, after pleading guilty to three felony counts of possession of such materials.

Judge Allison Arms sentenced Gagnon to three to 15 years in prison, all suspended, with a 10-year term of probation. Conditions of Gagnon’s probation require him to complete sex offender programming, prohibit contact with children, and restrict access to the internet. If he violates the terms of his probation, he faces up to 15 years in jail.

Gagnon is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following the completion of his sentence.
