Look Up: Demoted But Not Forgotten
Composite of enhanced color images of Pluto and its largest moon Charon taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft as it passed through the Pluto system on July 14, 2015. They are shown to scale in size, but not distance. The red terrain in the polar region of Charon is similar to that of the one near Pluto’s equatorial region. Pluto also shows a distinct heart-shaped region in the lower right quadrant.
