A huge crowd — many with homemade signs critical of our current federal government — came to the third No Kings Day rally on the Middlebury town green on Saturday. One attendee noted that it was a great turnout with citizens young and old singing together and then marching to call for resistance to the corruption threatening our democracy. Environmental activist and Ripton resident Bill McKibben stayed local and gave the keynote speech that roused the crowd. State Treasurer Mike Pieciak also gave a rousing address, as did Thelma Gomez, of Migrant Justice, exhorts citizens to protest actions of ICE agents against immigrants

One estimate put the number of protesters in Middlebury at 1,200.

At least 8 million people came together across the country in the largest single-day nonviolent protest in modern American history. More than 3,300 locations participated, including 600 new locations in mostly rural, red communities. Over 200,000 people attended the flagship event in the Twin Cities. What an incredible day!
