Kathryn Marguerite (Giard) Myrick, 93, of Bridport
BRIDPORT — Kathryn Marguerite (Giard) Myrick of Bridport, Vt., passed away at home Jan. 21, 2026, three days shy of her 94th birthday.
Born in Bridport in 1932, Kathryn was the only daughter of farmers Victor and Marguerite (Nadeau) Giard and sister to six brothers. She attended Bridport Village School and graduated from Middlebury High School in 1950, after which she and Fred Myrick were married.
Together, they raised nine children in a small house across the road from the Giard family farm. Kathryn loved working in her gardens, entertaining friends around her large dining table, taking her children and grandchildren on road trips, and gambling with her in-laws. She never turned down an opportunity to hold anyone’s baby, yet could also be heard telling her children and grandchildren to “go play in the road” until she could finish her household chores. Kathryn was an avid traveler, visiting nearly all fifty US states, the British Isles, and Germany. She never refused chocolate cake or cheese.
Kathryn’s survivors include her daughter Karen Nunn and son Chad; daughter Kelli McSweeny and son Brendan and daughter Margaret; daughter Kris Andrews, her husband Jim, and their daughters Birch and Ashley; daughter Kim Laramie, husband Spencer, and their daughter Kiah; daughter Karla Bondi, her partner Jack, and her daughter Sara and son Adam; daughter Klaudia Gray and husband Mike and her son Travis and daughter Haley; son Frederick Myrick, Jr. “Kip” and wife Lori and their daughter Regan; and son Kevin Myrick and his daughter Paige.
Also included in Kathryn’s large and extended family are fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nearly fifty nieces and nephews, and the many, many people over the years who have found acceptance and love in her Bridport home.
Kathryn is predeceased by her husband Fred, daughter Kathleen, and sister-in-law Gertrude Myrick.
In lieu of a formal service, the family is planning a celebration of Kathryn’s life this summer, details forthcoming.◊
