Karen Anne Lessor Layton, 67, Middlebury native

KAREN ANNE LESSOR LAYTON

MINEVILLE, N.Y. — Karen Ann Lessor Layton passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, after a few years of failing health. She was 67 years old. Karen was living with her son William in Mineville, N.Y.

She was born April 5, 1958, to the late Leo N. and Elizabeth Bullock Lessor. Karen grew up in Middlebury, Vt., and graduated from MUHS in 1977. She joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Campbell, Ky., where she was trained as a helicopter mechanic. After service she moved to Alabama with her then husband, John Hoskins. She worked at Fort Rucker on CH-47 Chinooks testing and maintenance.

Karen is survived by her two sons, William Hoskins (Jazmine) and Jeremy Logan Hoskins from Phenix City, Ala. She is survived by her grandchildren, Evan, Hoover, Payton, Xander and Anthony. Karen is also survived by her siblings, Margaret (Frank) Marr from Florida, Leo F. (Sherry) from Vermont, Dolores (Alcide) Gingras from Vermont, Deborah Lessor from Oregon, and Susanne Barrows from Vermont. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents and husband Jim Layton.

There will be no calling hours or service per her wishes.

Arrangements were made by Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, N.Y.◊
