FREDERICK H. WELLS JR.

LINCOLN — Frederick H. Wells Jr., affectionately known as Cubby, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 late on Thursday, July 11, with his partner Robin by his side.

Born in Burlington, Vt. and raised in Lincoln, Vt., he was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and exploring the outdoors. He was a skilled stonemason who built beautiful custom chimneys, stone walls and fireplaces. He loved cooking up a storm, whether it be in his own kitchen or at a friend’s back yard pig roast. He was an adventurous eater and would try almost anything, though he drew the line at opossum. He loved music, playing his drums, harmonica and singing. He was creative and able to imagine and build just about anything. He loved life, being adventurous and traveling. He knew how to take the time to appreciate the small things. He was the best at telling stories about his experiences in life, often about things that could really only happen to him, and he had such a good sense of humor he could make himself laugh.

He was predeceased by his father, Frederick H. Wells Sr. and his mother, Anna E. (James) Wells. He is survived by his partner, Robin Dufault; his daughter, Mikko R. Wells; his son, Frederick (Freddy) H. Wells III; Robin’s daughters, Jaiden and Alexis; Robin’s niece, Cassandra; sisters Leath Meunier, Ellen Rotax and Husband Jay, Gay Truax and Kathleen Wells; as well as his much-loved nieces and nephews.

Honoring his wishes there will be a true Cubby fashion celebration of life on Saturday Sept. 27. For more details please visit his page, Cubby Wells on Facebook. We encourage family and friends to connect on this page and share memories, photos and stories.

Cubby was the most loving father to his children, a loving brother, a loyal life-long friend and a uniquely kind man. There will truly never be another person like him, and he will be missed enormously by everyone who had the honor of knowing him. ◊
