David Allen Hentschel, 74, of Ferrisburgh
FERRISBRUGH — David Allen Hentschel died Sunday, July 20, 2025, after a swift illness. He was born June 12, 1951, in Claremont, N.H. to Wallace F and Marion (Hart) Hentschel of Claremont.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings William Hentschel (Sally) and Bethann Hentschel (Pickett). He was the loving husband of Bonnie Bullock for 35 years. He was a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his children Amy Mahoney (Todd), Sonya Duff (Gene), Derrick Hentschel, April Hentschel and Forrest Hentschel; his grandchildren Micheal Mahoney, Daemon Hentschel and Maelyn Hentschel; and great-grandchild Owen Mahoney. Many cousins, nieces and nephews and his lifelong best friend Barry Paquette also survive him.
David had a long resume of jobs, from line cook to textile mills to snowboard manufacturing, with most of his career being in machine maintenance. He became the stay-at-home dad and handyman of every wife’s dreams after a snowmobile accident and chronic illness forced his early retirement. David loved going to his land in Newfoundland, Canada, and maintaining his yard, which he called “The Ponderosa.” David had quite the green thumb, growing many house plants to massive sizes and growing robust vegetable gardens in times of better health.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the Vergennes Area Rescue squad for their compassionate service in our time of need.
A celebration of our beloved David’s life will be held at noon, Friday, July 25, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes.◊
