Noel Joseph Palin, 92, of Whiting

NOEL JOSEPH PALIN

WHITING — Noel Joseph Palin, age 92, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 24, 2025, at the home of his son in Orange, Vt.

Noel was born in St. Jacques, Quebec, Canada, on Dec. 24, 1932. He was the son of Richard and Albertine (Deneault) Palin. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Iberville, Quebec schools. He came to Whiting, Vt., in the early 1950s and continued his life’s work of dairy farming. On July 19, 1958, he married Joan Mitchell in Middlebury. She predeceased him July 30, 2022. He worked various farms for most of his life. While living in Brandon, he managed the Steinberg Farm and Steinberg Rentals. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping, and just simply loved cutting firewood.

He is survived by his son, Michael Palin and his wife Lorrie of Orange, with whom he had made his home; one sister, Jean-Darc Proulx; a brother, Rosiare Palin; two grandchildren, Jason Palin and Wendy Palin; and a great grandson, Michael Bowdish. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by seven brothers and four sisters.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on June 14, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church (St. Mary’s Church), in Brandon. Rev. Maurice Moreau, pastor, will be the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial will follow the ceremony, in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to Bayada Hospice, 316 Main St., Ste. EH-6, Norwich, Vt., 05055.
