Letter to the editor: New THT studio is healing balm to the community
It was one of those rare happenings, given how touched, inspired, and moved I felt. The new wing at Town Hall Theater is beautifully placed, recessed in between the Town Hall Theater and the Grace Baptist Church. Curiously, though I live nearby, I did not see it emerge.
As I walked in, I felt aware of the time, love and work involved in every detail to materialize this simple, clear and beautiful white shell. Airy, warm and comfortable, the Anderson Studio is a great room with a wall of ceiling-high windows looking over the river.
One gets drinks from a nearby bar and sits with friends. It is intimate and festive. Friendly. Doug will set the pace for our evening of songs he chose and the singers — friends — flawless and sophisticated, to interpret them. The show is polished, brilliant, effortless. And sustains our enchantment.
At home, with my coat still on, I relive the evening, realizing I have ‘changed air,’ a French expression. I brought to the evening a heart with so many small breaks, it sometimes felt like marmalade. I left the studio feeling the total success that began that night.
The studio is here, for us.
