Louise ‘Nana’ Mary Richards, 102, of Addison
ADDISON — Louise “Nana” Mary Richards, 102, of Addison, Vt., and formerly Jackson, N.H., passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2025, at Shard Villa Residential Care Home in Salisbury, Vt., conceding her pursuit to live indefinitely and belying the family’s belief that she would outlive everyone.
Born on March 19, 1922, in Providence, R.I., to Joseph and Maude (Griffith) Pinder, Louise grew up during the depression and resolutely refused to eat Spam furthermore in consequence. She reminisced fondly of her early adulthood, dancing into the early hours at socials to entertain the troops during the war, where predictably, she met and married Warren Richards in December 1944, a Navy sailor stationed in Newport, R.I., and welcomed her only daughter, Barbara. Later in life, Louise met her longtime companion, Bill Rowe.
Louise worked most of her career for Dieges and Clust as a payroll and secretarial clerk. Later in her career, she worked as a teller for East Providence Teachers Credit Union.
Louise was an avid skier and golfer, (acknowledging it was time to give up the boards in her Eighties), and involved in many community activities during her time in Jackson, N.H. She also kept herself active after moving to Addison by joining the Bridport Bone Builders group. “Nana” was beloved by so many, especially her family. She will be remembered for her spunk and loving nature. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters over manicures and spoiling them with an occasional lunch date. “Nana” could often be found in her favorite place, relaxing on the deck and soaking up the sunshine. She had a love for gardening, reading, traveling, and chocolate cream pie.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Barbara and husband Anthony Correia of Addison; her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Pamela (Oliver) Correia of Addison, Lynn (Correia) and Patrick Clohessy of Bridport, and Stephen Correia and companion Robin Campbell of Addison; her great-grandchildren Morgan (Correia) and Ethan Heffernan of Panton, Bradley and Brandi (Whittemore) Correia of Bridport, and Olivia Correia of Addison; and her great-grea- grandchildren Maverick Correia, Ivy Heffernan, and Maisie Correia.
Louise was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, Warren, and her longtime companion, Bill Rowe.
Louise’s family would like to express our gratitude to the caregivers at the Shard Villa Residential Care Home for the care and compassion shown to her.
Donations in Louise’s memory may be forwarded to Shard Villa Residential Care Home, 1177 Shard Villa Road, Salisbury, VT 05769.
A celebration of life will be held for Louise in the Summer. ◊
