Nancy Ann Elizabeth Perdue, 84, of New Haven
NEW HAVEN — Nancy Ann Elizabeth Perdue, age 84, passed with family at her side after a brief illness on Jan. 4, 2025.
Nancy was born in Orange, N.J. She was the daughter of Maria and Karl Rupp. She grew up in Orange, N.J., and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating with an associate’s degree in marketing. After graduating she worked as an assistant buyer in several N.J. department stores before joining her parents in operating their family business, Rupp’s Flower Shop on Orange Street in Newark, N.J.
In 1963 she married Donald T. Perdue, and they built a fulfilling, adventure-filled life together, moving to New Haven, Vt., in 1993 where Don had taken a teaching job at the then Gailer School in Middlebury. They built an in-law apartment in their home and moved Nancy’s parents to join them.
Nancy loved the great outdoors, cooking, gardening, birding, camping, traveling, reading and the arts in all aspects! She was always committed to helping others in her quiet and concerned manner and advocating for honesty, acceptance, tolerance and respecting others.
She is predeceased by her parents, Maria and Karl. Those surviving her are her husband, Don; son, Justin; daughter-in-law, Puanani; and her greatly loved grandson, Wesley.
There will be a memorial service in the spring at the family home in New Haven, Vt.
