Bristol Police Log for Jan. 16
BRISTOL — Bristol police in recent weeks have worked to enforce the town’s winter parking ban.
On Dec. 21 police issued tickets for violations of the winter parking ban. Also on that day, police assisted the public by providing winter parking information along Main Street.
On Dec. 22 police helped the Bristol Public Works Department with a vehicle that was interfering with plowing of a street. The owner was found and told to move the vehicle, and police issued a ticket.
Between Dec. 15 and 28 Bristol police completed 21 foot patrols and two car patrols, conducted 12 traffic stops and checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 13 times, at Bristol Elementary School 14 times and at local businesses seven times.
Police also processed eight fingerprint requests, verified one vehicle identification number and facilitated the return of one wallet.
In other recent activity as reported by Bristol Chief of Police Bruce Nason last week, Bristol police:
- On Dec. 17 enforced a town ordinance parking violation on Park Place.
- On Dec. 17 assisted Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School with a truancy concern.
- On Dec. 17 responded to a citizen dispute on South Street.
- On Dec. 18 responded to North Street for a delayed report of a one-vehicle crash in a driveway.
- On Dec. 18 issued a warning for an unlicensed dog on Ed Orvis Road.
- On Dec. 18 received a report of a forgery on Main Street. An investigation is ongoing.
- On Dec. 18 enforced a parking violation on South Street.
- On Dec. 19 responded to Walgreens for a reported theft. An investigation is ongoing.
- On Dec. 19 participated in a community event introducing Bristol’s community resource specialist.
- On Dec. 19 received a fraud complaint. An investigation is ongoing.
- On Dec. 20 met with students at Mount Abe and answered questions related to law enforcement.
- On Dec. 20 received a report of a possible internet scam from a resident on Pine Street and opened an investigation.
- On Dec. 21 assisted the Vermont State Police with a motor vehicle crash on Monkton Road.
- On Dec. 23 Bristol’s community resource specialist connected families in town with assistance in obtaining resources for Christmas.
- On Dec. 25 responded to a report of a possibly impaired drive on West Street, but determined the person was not impaired.
- On Dec. 25 checked on a suspicious vehicle on Main Street. Police did not observe any illegal or suspicious activity.
- On Dec. 26 received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle on West Pleasant Street. An investigation is ongoing.
- On Dec. 27 received a debit card found on South Street and contacted its owner.
- On Dec. 28 received a Subaru key found on West Street and placed it in the lost and found.
