Angelina ‘Angie’ Emilo Ciufo, 98, formerly of Middlebury

ANGELINA “ANGIE” EMILO CIUFO

BURLINGTON — Angelina Mary Ciufo passed away at the age of 98 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., on Jan.6, 2025.

Born in Middlebury, Vt., on Oct. 25, 1926, to Sicilian immigrants, Angelo and Giovonina (Giannone) Emilo, Angie graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1945. As a first-generation Italian American, her experiences during the Great Depression and World War eras shaped the rest of her life. With her incredible work ethic and unlimited energy, Angie was a dedicated bookkeeper for the family business, A. Emilo Building Supply, for more than 50 years.

Angie married Angelo Ciufo at St. Mary’s Church in Middlebury on July 19, 1947. Angelo predeceased her on May 15, 2008.

Angie is survived by her two children, Judy (Walt) and Mark; grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle; and great-granddaughter, Natilie; her brother-in-law Salavdor Ciufo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Peter, Ralph, Sam, Charlie, Louie and James; and sisters, Josephine and Mary.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Jan. 10 at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 326 College St., Middlebury, Vt. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 326 College St., Middlebury, Vt., 05473.
