Lester E. Whittemore Jr., 77, of Salisbury
SALISBURY — Lester E. Whittemore Jr. died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024.
He was born April 18, 1947, in Keene, N.H., the son of Lester and Helena Whittemore.
Earlier in life, Lester enjoyed playing softball and coaching Little League. Farming was a big part of his life; even after retirement he continued to drive trucks. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends and telling stories. He loved spending time with his lifelong friend, Serge Vanier. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.
Lester is survived by his wife, Marge, of 60 years; his brother Pete Whittemore, and sister Debbie Murphy (Bob); his four children, George Whittemore (Yvette), Pete Whittemore (Julie), Pam Lamoureux (Marc), and Chuck Whittemore (Amber); as well as 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Chet Whittemore of Fair Haven, sister Pauline Warner of Shoreham, and sister Helen Cloutier of Panton, along with his beloved dog, Dozer.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 1-5 p.m. at the VFW in Middlebury, Vt.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Addison County Humane Society Homeward Bound at 236 Boardman, Street, Middlebury Vt., 05753.
